Target® has been the Official Sponsor of the Iditarod Teacher on the Trail program from 2008 – 2012. We have greatly appreciated the 5 year grant project from Target and are grateful for the support and the commitment that Target shows to education.
In 2008, Target® became the official sponsor of the Iditarod Teacher on the Trail™ program. Jane Blaile, Arizona, was the ‘first’ teacher that Target® sponsored. Bullseye, the Target mascot, spent time at the start of the 2008 Iditarod.

The Teacher on the Trail™ program officially began in 1998 and the first teacher was placed on the Iditarod Trail during the race in a joint effort between Iditarod and ‘Finney’s’ sponsorship. In 2000, the quest for sponsorship began and was secured by the end of the 2000 Iditarod season. Wells Fargo became the first sponsor.
