Tales (and Tails) from the Trail

Thought flows in terms of stories –

stories about events, stories about people, and stories about intentions and achievements.

The best teachers are the best storytellers.

We learn in the form of stories.

~ Frank Smith

One thing that draws people to the Iditarod are the stories.  As teachers of writers, we encourage our students to collect their stories and share them with others.  My students love to collect their stories in their Writer’s Notebooks and then use those seeds as the basis for their writings during Writers’ Workshop.

During my tenure as ExxonMobil Teacher on the Trail™, one of my goals is to collect and share as many Iditarod stories as possible!  I hope that you will share them with your students and then encourage them to share their own Iditarod based writings with me.  They can email them to me using the link to the left.   I will post as many of them in this space as I can!
